Super Moms Struggling by Kay Wilson

ABC news channel just had a feature story of young moms trying to keep up with work, children and husbands or single moms struggling with jobs and kids have begun using Adderall, a prescription drug that has been prescribed for their child's hyperactivity by a pediatrician. Only 8% of children are diagnosed with ADHD  and but according to the National Institute of Drug Abuse, over the past decade the number of prescriptions written each year for Adderall has surged among women over 26, rising from a total of roughly 800,000 in 2002 to some 5.4 million in 2010. A particularly significant increase has been for women aged 26-39, for whom prescriptions soared by 750%. Mother's Little Helper Drug Abuse

Seems those numbers should have brought up a huge red flag.  Doctors and pharmacologists must be more aware of drug abuse.

Maybe the huge fine of $3.8 billion to pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline when they recently plead guilty and pay $3 billion in the largest settlement of health care fraud in U.S. history.  The settlement will resolve criminal and civil liability from the company's unlawful promotion of certain prescription drugs.
This case may cause more pharmaceuticals and doctors to pay closer attention.
