High Fructose corn syrup is in so many products that we use each day. You may recognize its' undercover name HFCS. Yes, there is a difference between “real” sugar (sucrose, or table sugar) and the ingredient known as HFCS or high-fructose corn syrup. Natural sugar is not real healthy, but the chemical compound HFCS, was created in 1957, is extremely popular and in so many products today because it is an inexpensive alternative to sugar, but it is worse. In 2010, researchers at Princeton University revealed that laboratory rats that were fed a diet of HFCS gained 48 percent more weight (especially around their abdomen) and had a marked increase in the fat in their blood than those fed table sugar.
More information from other researchers claim that. HFCS caused rapid weight gain, but also can cause insulin resistance, which leads to type 2 diabetes and fatty liver disease. Studies have also shown that HFCS can affect your body’s ability to recognize satiety, so you are more likely to overeat. Unfortunately, HFCS is now being used in so many processed food products, you have to read labels carefully, because it is being used in foods that you probably use every day..
Some common foods that we should check: breads, cereals, salad dressings, chocolate candy, ketchup and pasta sauce. You'll also find HCFS in soups, soda and we would never expect to find it in dairy products.
Be a defensive shopper and protect your family.
