One of the Keys to your Better Health & Weight Loss

One of the Keys to your Better Health & Weight Loss

Kay Wilson, Tucson Wellness Examiner

In Arizona, you would think quenching our thirst would be utmost in our mind. Think we've been the driest state in U.S. this year, total rainfall from our backyard rain guage is 1/2 inch total for the year. Last year at this time we had 5.5 inches, so we are far behind.

So importance of staying well-hydrated is well documented. Water helps our joints, our skin, our internal organs and hydrating the body helps our energy level. Be sure you drink even when you are not thirsty, thirst is a strong indicator that you are already dehydrated and can cause serious consequences.

A well-hydrated body will also be able to lose weight easier. Drink 8-10 glasses every day. A rule of thumb for someone who wants to lose weight is take 1/2 your body weight and to determine ounces of water you need to drink each day.

We use a filter on our fridge and sink faucet to take out most of the chemicals added by water treatment facilities. Bottled water never seems to help thirst & companies who bottle water are not regulated. It is better to bottle your own filtered water. Plastics are filling our landfill & most are not bio-degradable..
