Herbalife24 Base Camp: Post Leadville and Into the Future
Notable Milestones and Firsts in 2011: Fastest men’s field in history with 14 riders breaking the 7-hour mark (including Team Herbalife24 rider Gerry Cody). In 2010, the top 7 men 2010 finish sub-7, and prior to that, only Dave Weins and Lance Armstrong had ever broken the 7-hour barrier. Fastest women’s field in history with 4 riders finishing sub-8 hours. Prior to this year, Rebecca Rusch’s 2010 finish was the first female sub-8 in nearly 15 years. First year with notable international star-caliber riders. Former Marathon World Champion Alban Lakata (Austria, 2nd place). 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist Bart Brentjens (Netherlands, 6th place), former La Ruta de Los Conquistadores and Costa Rican National Champion, Team Sho-Air rider Manny Prado (Orange County, CA, 9th place) and Canadian pro Peter Glassford (Trek Canada, 12th place) headlined the largest and most competitive international contingent ever to descend on Leadville
